Tami Halbersma
Owner, ARNP, PMHNP-BC
Tami is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and ARNP with a Master’s in Nursing Practice. She has spent over twelve years caring for people in a wide range of settings, including OB/GYN, emergency nursing, crisis intervention, and mental health care for individuals of all ages.
Tami takes a compassionate, down-to-earth approach with every person she works with. She blends her crisis intervention experience, strong assessment skills, and genuine collaboration with clients to create treatment plans that feel personal, practical, and supportive—never one-size-fits-all. She specializes in helping people manage mood disorders such as bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety, and she is dedicated to helping clients feel understood, empowered, and hopeful.
Tami has a special passion for supporting individuals living with bipolar disorder. In 2022, she started a weekly bipolar support group in Des Moines to give people a safe, welcoming place to connect, share, and learn from one another. The group meets every Monday from 6:00–7:30 p.m. at Smokey Row, and she’s always happy to share more details if you're interested.
